KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: Hebrews 10:38(NKJV)
Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.”
If you’ve been actively following our conversations, you will recall that one of the first fruits of the gospel we spoke about was enduring faith.
Colossians 1:3-4 tells us about Paul’s testimony of their faith and we see him giving thanks for it.
Hebrews 10:38 points out something remarkable about this faith we have received. It says that this is the faith we are to live by or from.
“The just shall live by faith.”
You see, the just did not become just by starting to be just and ending by works. No, you started out being just by faith and you continue to be just by faith. And we know that this faith is the faith of Jesus(Galatians 2:20).
In Colossians 2:6, Paul emphasizes strongly in his letter to the Colossian church that they ought to walk in Christ JUST as they received Him.
How did you receive Christ? By faith.
How do you walk with Him? By faith too!
You received Christ by faith so you are to walk with Him by faith.
This is what the gospel produces! Enduring faith.
Enduring faith won’t back down.
You won’t stop or decide tomorrow that you have a new belief and no longer believe in God anymore.
That’s not you!
You are not of them that draw back(Hebrews 10:39)
Hear me, when a person’s faith is easily shaken by situations or easily denounced, that faith wasn’t a product of the gospel. It wasn’t.
Because if they really heard the gospel, it would produce long-lasting faith.
The faith of the believer is till the end!
Till our last breath here and beyond.
This is why the just, the believer, can be called to live by faith, by the faith of Jesus you began with and nothing else, because the fundamental quality of this faith is one that lasts forever.
REFLECTION
The gospel produces in me enduring faith that doesn’t back down and this faith is my life.
