LOVE’S OBLIGATION

KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: 1 John 4:11(NKJV)
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Besides the three primary fruits of the gospel we’ve highlighted in the past few weeks, there are several others that the scriptures encourages us to dig deep into, study and pray and so that we manifest these fruits too.
But these additional fruits are only offshoots of the three primary fruits we mentioned and so we can only gain understanding by looking at them through the fruits of genuine faith, love for all the saints and hope of a guaranteed future.

From our text, the Bible tells you what is the source of your love, that your loving a person is not something you are able to express because of your personality.
Look, the gospel is not confined to personalities or how you are.
Regardless of your personality, you can produce the fruits of the gospel.
So you can love your neighbour because God so loved you. If you keep your view steady on the fact that you have been loved, you too can love.

See, if you don’t think you’ve been loved, it’s a reflection of pride and means that you don’t see your sins have been forgiven and probably think you can pay your way to gain God’s acceptance. Come off it!
Scripture tells us in John 3:16 that it was on the basis of the magnitude of God’s love that He sent Jesus as a sacrificial offering to save us and deliver us from eternal destruction.

When the believer remembers that we were worthless sinners before, washed by the precious blood of Jesus and given a new, clean slate with every pre-existing record of our life completely cancelled out(2 Corinthians 5:17), then the obligation of that love we are recipients of, will be to love somebody else.

Friends, you must keep in view that you have been loved.

REFLECTION
Make this declaration with me today- I AM LOVED.

DECLARATION
-I believe in the good news of the gospel, that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus has announced the provision of forgiveness of my sins.
-I don’t just know the gospel, I live the gospel. I am transformed by the gospel. The gospel is working through me.
-The hearing of the gospel produces the fruits of Genuine Faith, Love for all the Saints and Hope og a Guaranteed Future in me.
-The fruits of the gospel are not a product of my ability but are generated supernaturally.
-I am not limited by my personality in producing the fruit of the gospel.
-My love source is God. I love because I have been loved. I keep my view steady on the love of God.
-Daily and forever, I remain thankful for the forgiveness of sins that the love of God has provided.
-Daily, I respond to love’s obligation by loving others.
Praise God!
