CHECK YOUR HEARTBEAT
27th MARCH 2020
Dr. Phil Ransom-Bello

KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: Psalms 36:2-3(NLT)
Put me on trial, Lord , and cross-examine me. Test my motives and my heart. For I am always aware of your unfailing love, and I have lived according to your truth.

When doctors check the heartbeat of a patient, it’s not just to tell them how the heart is working but to give them a picture of the overall state of the body’s wellbeing.
Now, heartbeats aren’t always the same. Sometimes, it’s normal, other times, its a missed or galloping sound you hear and each of these different beats can be traced to different health issues.
Look how important the heart is to the body.

This is the primary reason the believer must get his/her heart right. Your heart is the totality of your being and spiritual wellbeing. It makes up everything that you are.
In fact, the state of your heart at any time, is the true test of your growth as a believer and how you perceive the person of God towards you. Much more than your exploits or service, it is what defines your response to life’s circumstances.

Hear me, if your heart is not right, go fix your heart. We established what it means to have a right heart yesterday.
So, ask yourself;
Is my heart established in grace? Hebrews 13:9
Am I totally dependent on the state of God’s heart towards me?
Or is my heart distracted by the voice of service, purpose, weakness, problems etc.?
Is my heart more attuned to God’s heart i.e the promise or attuned to the problem?

The reason why Christians have different options outside of the word or look to their effort or competence as their source rather than the provisions of God’s grace is because they are not rooted and grounded in Love(Ephesians 3:17-19).
Listen, learn to take your eyes off what’s going on and see the glory that’s ahead. When your heart takes the shape of the promise, you will be filled with the fullness of God.

Dear believer, the question is- what does your heart beat for?
If we checked your heart rate, will it be reflective of a healthy, robust life that’s beating in perfect rhythm with the heart of the Father towards you? Or will it be a pointer to the fact that you are weighed down by focusing on problems and your self-sufficiency?

It’s my prayer that you get your heart right with the gospel. That the love of God will seep so fully into your heart, permeating your heart and if there’s any other conviction to act or do contrary, you will hold the gospel more firmly, choosing it above all others.
And that you will build your life like an edifice that’s built on the foundation of the word till you can’t see anything else.
