NATURE PRODUCES PRACTICE

KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: 1 John 3:7(NKJV)
Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.

The consciousness of your righteousness is what makes you righteous. If you are sin cosnscious, you will keep sinning.
Verse 9 of the passage we looked at yesterday says, “Whoever has been born of God does not sin.”
Now, there’s an interplay here of the word sin as a nature and as an action.
It’s an interplay of the noun and the verb.

Scripture says whoever has been born of God does not sin but we’ve all sinned before, even though we are now born of God.
So what he is referring to is that anyone is born of God can’t have the nature of sin. You now have the nature of righteousness. And then he moves from the noun to the verb which is why he starts to talk about making a practice of sin.

So we see that the Bible is clear. You can’t see an animal that has the nature of goat behaving like the nature of a dog.
You can’t have the nature of God and live out another nature.
Nature creates distinction.
1 John 3:10 says;
“In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.”
Another translation says whoever does not practice righteousness is not living as one who God is his source.

The question is- Who is your source or nature?
You are born of God, your nature ought to produce your practice and that’s the practice of righteousness.
Allow your nature influence your practice.

REFLECTION
Am I allowing my nature influence my practice?

DECLARATION
-I believe in the good news of the gospel, that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus has announced the provision of forgiveness of my sins.
-I don’t just know the gospel, I live the gospel. I am transformed by the gospel. The gospel is working through me.
-The hearing of the gospel produces the fruits of Genuine Faith, Love for all the Saints and Hope of a Guaranteed Future in me.
-The fruits of the gospel are not a product of my ability but are generated supernaturally.
-The gospel bears the fruit of righteous living in me.
-I am born of God so I do not sin. I have His nature.
-My nature is distinct and evident in my practice. My life shows that God is my source.
-Daily, I am committed to allow my nature influence my practice.
-Because my nature is that I am now the righteousness of God, I practice righteousness.
-I remain conscious of who I am. I have a righteousness consciousness not a sin consciousness.
-In the areas where I struggle and experience conflict in my flesh, I have the faith to say “NO”.
-I allow the gospel bear fruit in my life so I don’t practice sin. I stay with the gospel not self.
