WANT GOD’S WAY
26th July 2020
Dr. Phil Ransom-Bello
KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: 1 John 2:16(MSG)
“Practically everything that goes on in the world—wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important—has nothing to do with the Father.”
The Message translation of 1 John 2:16 is very clear. It says, wanting your own way has nothing to do with the Father.
So everytime you want your way, it’s not a sign of the love of the Father.
Wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from Him.
Today, we see a lot of this in the church. Believers misplacing priorities, that when it comes to money, they’d do anything, they’d go to any length to dupe their own brothers/sisters in Christ, even 419 their own pastor.
Because of money!
That’s not the love of the Father.
It’s not a fruit of the gospel.
If I say I’m going to do business with you. How integrous can you be?
Your CV should be that you are a believer. This is the fruit the church should be producing.
It shouldn’t be heard among us that we bail with people’s money.
The thought of getting into a business deal with a believer should give you confidence not palpitations.
Be trustworthy.
Let your YES be YES.
Otherwise, the love of the Father is not in us when we manifest like this.
That a person is working with another person in church and is stealing his/her money.
Or that because of the pursuit of money, a believer is constantly absent in church.
Look, we must evaluate our desires to be sure its in line with a love for the Father and not borne out of lusts.
Friends, don’t want your own way, want God’s way.
REFLECTION
Am I trustworthy in my dealings as a believer or am I seeking my own way deceitfully?
DECLARATION
-I believe in the good news of the gospel, that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus has announced the provision of forgiveness of my sins.
-I don’t just know the gospel, I live the gospel. I am transformed by the gospel. The gospel is working through me.
-The hearing of the gospel produces the fruits of Genuine Faith, Love for all the Saints and Hope of a Guaranteed Future in me.
-The fruits of the gospel are not a product of my ability but are generated supernaturally.
-The fruit of the gospel produces and fires up a love for the Father in me.
-My perspectives and priorities are not misplaced. Rather, they reflect a love and pursuit of the person of Christ and His kingdom not a pursuit for the things of the world.
-The love of money is not at work in me. I am not driven to deceit in my dealings with people. I am trustworthy and integrous.
-I am not driven by the lure and lust of the eyes that the things of the world present; I have the contentment of the gospel. This is where I make profit.
-Everyday of my life, I want the way of the Father not my own way.
