KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: 1 John 2:15(NKJV)
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

The man in Christ who does not make the deliberate effort to renew his mind will have a very slow transformation.
So you will still struggle with that addiction or you still fornicate or maybe you are still given to lying, smoking, drinking, hanging out with bad company. Basically, nothing’s really changing.
But if you renew your mind everyday(Romans 12:2), it’s a matter of time, those actions or struggles will drop off.

So like we said some days ago, the gospel births in you, increasing disdain for things that are not reflective of your nature anymore.
See 1 John 2:15-17;
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”

Verse 15 says, “Do not love the world.”
Listen carefully- Don’t love it. Don’t set your affection on the things that the world gives.
You can’t believe/receive the gospel and still sustain or hold dear, love for the world.
The two are incompatible!
They are not compatible so stop trying to combine or balance both.

To emphasize this, verse 15 tells us that if you love the world or are tolerant of the things of the world, i.e the ideals, the orientations, the standards etc. the love of the Father is not in you.
Friends, don’t cherish what the world has to offer, let go of it and stay with God’s love.

REFLECTION
Have I been trying to combine a love for the world with a love for God?

DECLARATION
-I believe in the good news of the gospel, that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus has announced the provision of forgiveness of my sins.
-I don’t just know the gospel, I live the gospel. I am transformed by the gospel. The gospel is working through me.
-The hearing of the gospel produces the fruits of Genuine Faith, Love for all the Saints and Hope of a Guaranteed Future in me.
-The fruits of the gospel are not a product of my ability but are generated supernaturally.
-The fruit of the gospel produces an increasing disdain for the things of the world.
-I am committed to renewing my mind. I yield my way of thinking to be transformed by the influence of God’s word alone.
-I lose my affection or tolerance for all that the world represents.
-I don’t try to combine my love for the world and love for God.
-The love of the Father is in me.
Hallelujah!
