WIN BY YOUR IDENTITY

KEY SCRIPTURE/ MEMORY VERSE: Philippians 2:5
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus
A couple of years ago (feels wonderful to know that our gospel journey has been consistent over the years, doesn’t it?)we feasted thoroughly on a series tagged “The Mind of Christ”.
This teaching was anchored on three cardinal elements; Identity, Transformation and Expression in specific order.
One primary lesson this teaching drilled into our hearts was the truth of the believer’s identity and how real and applicable it is to our everyday lives.
You see, when we became believers, we put on Christ(Galatians 3:27.)
This truth must sink deep into our consciousness, that for the new man, anything that Christ is, we are and anything that He is not, we are not.
So if the word says you have the mind of Christ(1 Corinthians 2:16), then it means that every reality that the mind of Christ has, you do too.
One translation puts it as, “You now have Christ’s perceptions.” So you perceive life and every question or challenge the way Christ would.
This is an interesting season. We have come to the beginning of a new year and most folks would be making resolutions or developing strategies on how to win their year.
Listen, although vision boards are good, the real answer is in the root- your identity.
You need to examine what lenses you are seeing the new year through. The lenses of your identity as a believer or the lenses of your past mistakes?
Beloved, your identity is determined in Christ not anywhere else. Your origin has changed. In Christ, your identity is new and different.
Look, you are first in Christ before you are in 2020 so 2019 does not hold any power in determining who you are or what your outcomes will be.
See some of the realities that your identity in Christ has brought you into below;
1. In Him you are holy and without blemish:
Ephesians 1:4: ‘just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, ‘
2. In Him you are a son of God!:
_Galatians 3:26 – For in Christ SO ip in Christ created for good works:*
Ephesians 2:10 – ‘For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.’
Ponder on the realities of your identity in Christ. Ponder on the fact that you are righteous, that you are blessed, that you are more than conquerors and your victory is louder than every circumstance. Ponder on the fact that you are complete in Christ and His experience is your experience.
All through this year, determine to hold the truth of your identity in Christ above every other reality. In fact, let every other reality pale in comparison to the truth of who you are.
This is how you win.
