FAITH’S IDENTITY
17th July 2020
Dr. Phil Ransom-Bello

KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: Hebrews 10:39(NKJV)
But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

What a powerful lesson we got yesterday, to be reassured that the faith we receive in this gospel is not a faith that gives in or draws back or a faith that we are not sure can endure hard times.
No, it’s a long-lasting type of faith.
Neither is it a faith that can backslide.
See, even if they pick you and drop you in Sodom & Gomorrah, regardless of your location, it won’t be a question of your environment influenced you to change.
There will still be the seed of your faith.

Listen, your environment can’t affect the core of your faith. It might influence you to become less productive but it won’t shake the core of your faith. You will still believe regardless of where you are.
Verse 39 of Hebrews 10, reminds us of our identity; “We are not of them that drawback to perdition.”
Perdition is apostasy.

So all those people who say after awhile, “I’m an atheist now.”, it’s a sign that they never knew what they believed in the first place. They were not even sure of the Jesus that was preached to them nor did they have a personal experience with Him.
So that can’t be you.

I really like the way the writer of Hebrews used pronouns to make a clear distinction.
That scripture says, “We are not of them…” meaning, that is not our MO.
What sets the believer of the gospel of Christ apart is believing till the end. Till our last breath.
It’s a faith that doesn’t deny it’s source or Jesus, who is the object of our faith(Galatians 2:20).
This is Faith’s identity.

REFLECTION
My faith is distinctly enduring. It lasts till the end.

DECLARATION
-I believe in the good news of the gospel, that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus has announced the provision of forgiveness of my sins.
-I don’t just know the gospel, I live the gospel. I am transformed by the gospel. The gospel is working through me.
-The hearing of the gospel produces the fruits of Genuine Faith, Love for all the Saints and Hope of a Guaranteed Future in me.
-The fruits of the gospel are not a product of my ability but are generated supernaturally.
-The gospel produces enduring faith in me.
-The faith of Jesus that I have received is not easily shaken by circumstances, the environment or easily denounced.
-I believe regardless of where I am.
-This faith does not draw back or give in to another belief.
-I live by faith.
-The identity of my faith is the faith of Jesus. And it’s till my last breath here and beyond.
Praise God!
