WHERE’S YOUR BEST LIFE?
19th June 2020
Dr. Phil Ransom-Bello
KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: Colossians 1:5(NKJV)
because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel
Yesterday, we saw that a believer of the gospel cannot be impoverished in hope because the fruit of hope that the gospel produces is an abundant, overflowing, never-ending hope.
Oh Hallelujah! What a hope we’ve got!
Colossians 1:5 says, “…because of the the hope that is laid up for you in heaven.”.
So when you wake up every morning, what are you thinking about? You should be thinking about the hope that is ahead of you.
The reason why believers are not thinking about the hope is because we are not teaching right. Perfect teaching is when you expound on the hope of the gospel, when you let the believer see that there is a hope ahead of him/her.
See, if your best life is here on earth, you should be pitied. In 1 Corinthians 15 verse 19, Paul says we are the most miserable humans if the benefit of our hope in Christ is limited to life on earth.
Do you know the best future the earth, this planet, can have is now ? But in heaven, we have a hereafter.
And the believer is actually existing in a hereafter. So we are not just about the now.
And like we learned a few days ago, it is the feeling of hope that is produced from the object of hope that produces love in your heart.
When your mind is on the object of hope which is the joys of heaven, when your heart is anticipating, before you get there, there is a feeling of hope that comes because you are set on these joys of heaven.
That feeling of hope is what produces love in your heart.
If you flip back to verse 4 of our text, the Bible explains that your love for all the saints is as a result of your hope that is in heaven, which it goes on to say in verse 5.
So when you see the object of hope as you receive the gospel, it becomes a feeling that produces love.
Dear believer, I’ve got a question for you- Where is your best life? Now or Hereafter?
Look, don’t let your hope in Christ be reduced to the now. Know that your hope in Christ is for a far bigger purpose and a hope that is limited to only the now will leave you miserable.
Make the right choice today about the focus of your hope in Christ.
REFLECTION
Have I limited my perspective of a best life to the here and now alone?
DECLARATION
-I believe in the gospel, therefore the seed of the gospel produces fruit in my life.
-I don’t just know the gospel, I live the gospel. I am transformed by the gospel. The gospel is working through me.
-This gospel produces the genuine markers of authentic believers; of Faith, Love and Hope in me.
-The hope I have received is confident, abundant, overflowing and never-ending. I cannot be impoverished.
-I hope in what has been completed. I constantly anticipate the blessed and glorious appearing of Jesus and what has been laid up for me in heaven.
-I am constantly thinking about the hope that is ahead of me.
-The benefit of my hope in Christ is not limited to life on this earth alone. I exist in the hereafter.
-My best life and future is not in the earth. My best life is not conditioned to the now but in the hereafter. I will not live a miserable life that is limited to the now.
-I have the guaranteed hope of experiencing the joys of heaven.
-As I receive the revelation of the object of hope that the gospel gives, I bubble over with the feeling of hope that produces in me love for all the saints.
Hallelujah!
