FRUIT-BEARING BELIEVER

KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: Colossians 1:4-5(NKJV)
since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints; because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel,
If the gospel is good news, if it is too-good-to-be-true news that when you hear it, you almost want to cring in disbelief, then it stands to reason that the fruits it produces cannot be the workings of your ability.
These fruits have to be generated supernaturally so that their expression in your life will point to a source that is independent of you.
When we started to talk about the fruits of the gospel, we mentioned three primary fruits; Enduring Faith, Love for all the Saints and Hope of a Guaranteed Future.
This summarizes what the gospel would produce.
In essence, when a person hears the gospel, it produces in that individual, GENUINE FAITH (Romans 10:17 says faith comes by hearing)that lasts till the end.
It also produces LOVE FOR ALL OF GOD’S PEOPLE not just members of your family or local church and this love has nothing to do with how long you have known your brother or sister in Christ.
Who’s that guy that just got employed in your office or lives in your compound or the lady that just joined the Ushering department, is he/she in Christ? Then the only way you should address or relate with them should be in the category of people Paul is saying your love should reach.
Again, this is not worked out by your natural feelings.
As long as that neighbour or colleague is a believer, they’ve come to some part of your heart that is designated for someone you will call a brother or sister.
Not only that, the hearing of the gospel also produces a hope, whose quality is guaranteed.
It’s the hope of the joys of heaven that we are sure of receiving and as a result, it colours your perspective of situations and the realities of the natural life here on earth.
This hope is the best pair of eyeglasses a believer can ever wear.
Friends, if you see these things in your life, it evidences the facts that you are truly saved. If you don’t, then it’s a call for you to press deeper, to yield to the fruit bearing process of the gospel that you have received.
Be a fruit-bearing believer.
REFLECTION
What fruits has the hearing of the gospel produced in me?
DECLARATION
-I believe in the good news of the gospel, that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus has announced the provision of forgiveness of my sins.
-I don’t just know the gospel, I live the gospel. I am transformed by the gospel. The gospel is working through me.
-The hearing of the gospel produces the fruits of Genuine Faith, Love for all the Saints and Hope og a Guaranteed Future in me.
-The fruits of the gospel are not a product of my ability but are generated supernaturally.
-My love for believers in Christ is not dependent on how long I’ve known them or any other familial conditions.
-This hope that the gospel produces is an assurance that I’ll receive the joys of heaven someday.
-My perspective of situations and the realities of life on earth is coloured by the premium quality glasses of hope.
-Daily, I yield to the fruit-bearing process of the gospel that I have received. Hallelujah!
