SEEK THE ABOVE

KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: Colossians 3:1-2(NKJV)
If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
Let’s start off with a recap from yesterday. We ended by looking at Colossians 3:1 where scripture instructs us to set our affections on things above if we are indeed raised with Christ.
One question every believer ought to answer is the question of where you are seated. Where are you sitting?
Ephesians 2 verse 6 tells us that God has raised up with Christ and seated us with Him in heavenly places. So that’s where you are.
But do you know it takes a lot of effort to recall where we are seated when life hits you? You forget that you are seated in heavenly places.
Look, you must be grounded in the understanding of your position and what that position requires you to do. Scripture says- “Seek those things which are above.”
Seek those things which are above. Where Christ is!
Friends, let this be your framework of thinking.
The reason why it is difficult to set your mind on things above is because your senses are more alive than your faith sometimes.
Your senses being those things that connect you to your world such as your eye and ear gates, your feelings etc. These keep you attuned to your environment.
It’s important that you feed your spirit strongly so that your spirit is stronger than your senses because we are men and women of faith. We are not men and women of feelings.
You are not a man of the flesh anymore. We don’t judge after the flesh anymore(2 Corinthians 5:16)
Why? You are saved now, a new creation(2 Corinthians 5:17).
From the INSIDE-OUT not OUTSIDE-IN.
There is no record of an existing life before Christ.
So if you set your mind on things above, what is likely going to happen is that you’d not have undulating emotions based on what’s happening here on earth. It’s that simple!
Secondly, the object of your joy will change.
Think about it, how can the only time you are happy be when you are paid? How can no one be comfortable around you because you are reacting in anger to unpleasant situations?
It means the object of your faith is on things and happenings not on things above.
It is better to be consistent because you set your mind on things above than to have swinging emotions.
Listen, don’t be concerned with here all the time. You are not here going there , you are from there living here temporarily.
You are seated in Christ so seek and stay with what’s above.
REFLECTION
Are the realities of my senses more alive than the object of my faith?
DECLARATION
-I believe in the gospel, therefore the seed of the gospel produces fruit in my life.
-I don’t just know the gospel, I live the gospel. I am transformed by the gospel. The gospel is working through me.
-This gospel produces the genuine markers of authentic believers; of Faith, Love and Hope in me.
-I have been raised with Christ and I’m seated with Him in heavenly places.
-Because I am seated above, my perspective is from above and I seek those things which are above. This perspective forms the framework for my thoughts.
-I am a man/woman of my faith and I am deliberate to amplify my consciousness of spirit realities over my sense realities.
-The object of my faith is more alive than my senses.
-My emotions do not undulate based on happenings here. My emotions operate from the wavelength of the Sprit always.
-I am not moved by concerns in the here because I exist in the hereafter.
-Daily, I reminisce on the joys of heaven and I set my affections on things above.
