ULTIMATE SACRIFICE

Dr. Phil Ransom-Bello

KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: 1 Peter 1:19(NLT)
But [you were purchased] with the precious blood of Christ (the Messiah), like that of a [sacrificial] lamb without blemish or spot.

If you take some time to dwell on the fact that God intentionally partook of our humanity to save us, you’d see the length He went to prove His love and fulfil the plan of redemption. And that’s a great affirmation of our faith.
Its amazing to know that the divine, precious, sinless, undefiled blood that saved you is the one that came from the breath of the Holy Ghost!
Oh glory to God!
God’s Spirit breathe life to form this blood. He was fully invested.

Taking a second look at Hebrews 2:14 from yesterday, we see that Jesus used death to destroy death. Oh Satan did not see that coming because if he did, he would not have crucified the Lord of glory(1 Corinthians 2:8)
You see, Jesus had a focus. He knew His purpose to deliver mankind would only happen by His dying. So, healing the sick was good, delivering the oppressed was good, feeding 5,000 people was wonderful but the ultimate thing was dying on that cross.
Friends, you and I have no hope if He didn’t die.

Jesus was without sin or guile and didn’t have to take on our sin/punishment. Even Judas who betrayed Jesus, confessed in Matthew 27:4, that Jesus’s blood was innocent.
But thank God for the significance of what this blood speaks for us- sacrifice and substitution.
John also testified of this sacrifice in John 1:29. He said- “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.”

Listen, all these testimonies of the blood are proof that you were not redeemed by temporary, perishable things, things that can fade away.
You were redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus, without spot, without blemish(1 Peter 1:18,19).

Under the law, the system for blood sacrifices in atoning for sins was based on the blood of animals. Now, these animals were thoroughly examined for blemish before they were considered worthy to atone. Still, they never satisfied God’s demands(Isaiah 1:11; Hebrews 10:1).
But praise God! Of all the sacrifices ever offered to God, Jesus was the only blood that met the requirements of God for all time. His was the ultimate. That’s what redeemed you and I!
In Isaiah 53:10-11, the Bible says it pleased God(meaning God was delighted)to bruise Him. God was so accepting of the sacrifice that He fully exhausted His wrath/judgement for sin on Jesus so that the world can receive remission for sins.

Child of God, if redemption is tied to the satisfaction of the sacrifice, we are recipients of the supreme sacrifice.
What a blessing!
