LET’S TALK BLOOD
11th April 2020
Dr. Phil Ransom-Bello

KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: Hebrews 9:12(NLT)
With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.

Isn’t it amazing that Easter is here? Contrary to some opinions, this is actually a season to rejoice, not to sorrow or be sad. Some of us grew up with the notion that Easter is the season where you ought to be sad for your sins and the fact that Jesus died.
No friends, the fulfilment of Easter brought us victory! Tell me, what is associated with victory? Rejoicing! So you celebrate!

But you see, to be able to rejoice, really rejoice, you need to understand what happened at Easter. You’ve got to understand the significance of the primary element of blood(Colossians 1:14).
So let’s talk blood!

In Hebrews 9:11, it says that Christ came as the High priest of the anticipated good things. Meaning that before Christ, the good things were not in place. The duty of the high priest is to mediate and bring something to the table, standing as a middleman between God and what He intends to give His people.
So if one is a high priest of sadness, this means he mediates sadness from a source and brings it to the people.

As we see from scripture, there were many High priests before Jesus came but they only mediated on things that were temporary so people’s idea of God was defined by temprary expressions of mercies and goodness but the good things to come was referring to what’s eternal.
Oh I’m so thankful that Jesus became our High priest of the good things.

Let’s go down history lane for a short while. You see, all the high priests who came before Jesus came from the order of Levi but when Jesus came, He came from the tribe of Judah signifying a change from the old order.
And scripture typifies Christ as being of the order of Melchizedek, a man whose origin and death remains unknown, which tells us about an endless life.(Hebrews 7:11-17)

In verse 12 of Hebrews 9, the Bible says that theis new order priesthood of Jesus did not mediate with the blood of bulls and goats but with HIS OWN BLOOD. And this blood has obtained eternal redemption for us. Let that sink in.

Dear believer, the blood of Jesus has provided eternal reconciliation for you(2 Corinthians 5:19)
And this redemption is eternal because unlike the other high priests who had to come back each year to offer sacrifices, Jesus’s sacrifice is once and for all(Verse 26).
And because His sacrifice is forever, He is sitting at the right hand of God. This means that it is finished(Hebrews 10:12-14).

What’s not to rejoice about?
Come on, rejoice!

REFLECTION
Take a moment to reflect on the fact that in Christ, you have been saved/redeemed forever. Now, give thanks.

DECLARATION
