DEAD TO WORLDLINESS
27th July 2020
Dr. Phil Ransom-Bello

KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: Galatians 6:14(NLT)
As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died.

To identify lust, you only need to see that there’s no love for the Father.
And from the last couple of days, we’ve come to the understanding that the conversation of lust is fully understood within the confines of priorities and perspective.
That your reason for getting money would be because of the kingdom. That’s perspective!
You’ll not go about getting money or pursuing any other accomplishments the way others do.
People wouldn’t need to sign an MOU because they are worried you’d bail.
No, your CV would be that because you are a believer, you are trustworthy.

What a powerful text we are considering today. In fact, I want you to make a declaration.
Say this after me;
-The world has been crucified to me and I to the world.

You see, it’s a two-way thing. I hate the world and the world hates me. It’s not complete if I just say I hate the world and the world still loves me. It means the world still loves me because the world thinks I am one of them.

Let me give you an example. You see, I like good things. In fact, if you are godly, you’ll like good things. I mean, we would be walking on streets of gold, that’s how posh God is.
But do you know your faith is more precious than gold?
Priorities!
You can’t give the excuse of not having somethings as the reason why you’d choose the things of the world over the things of God.
“Oh I couldn’t come to church because I didn’t have what to wear or my shoes are bad.”
Listen, you are vain. You have misplaced your priorities.
If your house caught fire, you’d run out with what you’re wearing, isn’t it?

Look, it’s not too farfetched to identify worldliness in a believer. We see it everyday.
Now, don’t get me wrong, dressing nicely isn’t worldly but when your priority is wrong, that’s when it becomes your god, that’s when it becomes lust.
Friends, let’s not be worldly.

REFLECTION
The world has been crucified to me and I to the world.

DECLARATION
-I believe in the good news of the gospel, that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus has announced the provision of forgiveness of my sins.
-I don’t just know the gospel, I live the gospel. I am transformed by the gospel. The gospel is working through me.
-The hearing of the gospel produces the fruits of Genuine Faith, Love for all the Saints and Hope of a Guaranteed Future in me.
-The fruits of the gospel are not a product of my ability but are generated supernaturally.
-The fruit of the gospel produces and fires up a love for the Father in me.
-My perspectives and priorities are not misplaced. Rather, they reflect a love and pursuit of the person of Christ and His kingdom not a pursuit for the things of the world.
-Both my interest in the world and the world’s interest in me has been crucified. I am dead to worldliness.
-My perspective to life and priorities in life is kingdom only. My faith is more precious.
-The love of the Father is in me.
