BECAUSE YOU BELIEVED
15th July 2020
Dr. Phil Ransom-Bello
KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: I John 3:23(NKJV)
And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
Speaking of the believer’s confidence, we read a scripture yesterday in 1 John 3:21,22 that said, “…we receive from Him whatever we ask because we keep His commandments.”
Now, this puts a lot of people in that place of questioning.
“So if I don’t keep His commandments, does it mean I won’t receive?”
Let’s see what these commandments the Bible is speaking of.
In the next verse, verse 23, the Bible says;
“And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.”
That’s it!
That you should believe in Jesus and have love for the saints!
Do you see how we’ve come full circle in our understanding of the fruits of the gospel produces?
It’s intertwined.
So the question is, do you believe? If you believe, then you have kept His commandment.
Now, let’s draw the connection. What is the guarantee that God hears your prayers?
Because you believe!
Because you are in Him!
That’s all!
When you say, “Oh Pastor, the reason why God doesn’t hear my prayers is because I haven’t done this or that.”, it means you haven’t read the scriptures well.
Look, it is faith in Jesus that has fulfilled all the requirements, therefore God is pleased with you and finds you acceptable and hears your prayers.
Friends, this is the fruit that the gospel produces.
The assurance that you have kept God’s commandments just by believing.
And as a result, you have confidence before Him in prayers.
That when you pray, He is committed to hearing your prayers.
In fact, He has heard you before you even asked(Isaiah 65:24).
Because you believed!
REFLECTION
