Dr. Phil Ransom-Bello

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

If you find a man or woman from one ethnic group that is more concerned with or in pursuit of the culture of another ethnic group, won’t you find it strange?
But isn’t that what many of us believers do today?
How can a believer who is truly in Christ, hid in Him, seated with Him, originate from Him who is above, set their sights on the culture and realities of life here below?

Scripture says, set your sights on the realities of heaven where Christ is!
Hear me, for the believer, Christ is now your life(Colossians 3:4). As far as this world is concerned, you died and your new life is Christ.
So your way of life has changed.
The moment you died with Christ and were raised with Him your history is now of God and your projections must be too.

You are from above so the object of your faith must be the things that are above. That should carry more meaning or weight in your experiences.
There are some things that don’t mean much to me. An example is money(I know many of us are not comfortable hearing this).
Another example is affluence. Look, it doesn’t matter how highly placed I am, position means nothing to me.
The reason why we fight each other is because of where our attention is. You think about it, if our attention were to be above and not on things or natural affairs, will there be conflict and politicking among believers? No.

But we are of a different kingdom with different realities.
See, set your mind on things above. A man who does this will easily pray. A man who does this will look at the word and not feel a disconnect because he was unable to study yesterday or the day before. As great and highly beneficial studying the word is, it’s not the frequency of going into the word that does it for you, it’s the state of your mind.
Because your mind is set above, you don’t feel guilty. You know you are already seated in heavenly places.
You travel to your village and you are not afraid of some witch or generational curse. Your mind is above.

How do you carry a grudge or offence to the grave? You hear believers say- “This is my sworn enemy.” Really?
Everlasting beef when you have everlasting life ?
Let me tell you why people do this, it’s because they have a low sense of where they really are.
Listen, its because your mind is set on things above that it is easy to forgive people who offend you.

Friends, let this hope of the realities of heaven be the framework of your thinking, be your perspective to life!
That the fact that you are young does not distract you from being enamoured with the joys of heaven.
That job or no job, money or no man, material possessions or no material possessions, you are thinking about who God is and the fact that you are seated in heavenly places.

My perspective/framework of thinking is only influenced by what’s above.

-I believe in the gospel, therefore the seed of the gospel produces fruit in my life.
-I don’t just know the gospel, I live the gospel. I am transformed by the gospel. The gospel is working through me.
-This gospel produces the genuine markers of authentic believers; of Faith, Love and Hope in me.
-I have been raised with Christ and I’m seated with Him in heavenly places.
-Because I am seated above, my perspective is from above and I seek those things which are above. This perspective forms the framework for my thoughts.
-I set my sights on the culture/realities of heavenly places where Christ is.
-As far as this world is concerned, I died with Christ, therefore Christ is now my life.
-I am in and of Christ therefore my history and projections is of Christ alone.
-The object of my faith is on things above. Daily, I reminisce on the joys of heaven.
