WHY YOU SHOULD WIN SOULS IV
11th May 2020
Dr. Phil Ransom-Bello

KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: Acts 1:8(NKJV)
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth”.

As we respond to the Lord’s command to win souls and point people to the saving knowledge of Jesus, we must realize that its not only in giving quality time to declaring the gospel but in how we live. You see, a powerful tool that will enable our evangelism to gain ground is our lifestyle.
2 Corinthians 2:15 tells us that we are the fragrance of Christ both to those who are saved and those who are perishing.
That just by coming in contact with us, people can tell there’s something different about you and they are drawn in.

It’s harder to tell someone about the love of God in your workplace or school or family when your lifestyle doesn’t match the character of whom you are preaching about.
Before you start witnessing verbally, your life should do the same. You are a living epistle that men read and know(2 Corinthians 3:2).

So we must be committed to obeying the commission for soul-winning with our whole lives.
The Bible says that he who wins a soul is wise(Proverbs 11:30). You may never really have an idea of the scope of that wisdom until you get to eternity and see the number of lives that have been delivered from eternal destruction because you obeyed the Lord’s command to preach the gospel.
So let us be relentless in evangelizing.

But even more importantly, you must know that you are not going on your own accord. God didn’t only give a command, He has also equipped you with His capacity. In John 20:21, Jesus makes a powerful statement while commissioning His disciples, He told them that in the same way He was sent, they have also been sent. What this means is that what Jesus has we also have.
And then in the next verse, He does something significant. He breathed upon them the Holy Spirit to show us that we have the capacity or power to witness by the Holy Spirit within us.

We see this again in Acts 10:38 that God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and with power to do this work.
Question: Are you a believer? Did you receive the Holy Spirit at the new birth?
Then you’ve been equipped with what He’s been equipped with too!
Listen, if Jesus achieved the purpose for His coming to earth by the equipping of the Holy Spirit, then you too will be a powerful witness for the gospel in your time and generation because the same Holy Spirit dwells in you.

Wherever you are, whatever field of endeavour you find yourself in, preach the gospel.
Joel 3:10 says to turn your tool of trade to a weapon for ministering the gospel because its an opportunity for God to reach people with His love. That’s why He placed you there. The gospel must reach the ends of the earth and you are God’s battle axe.
