YOU CAN BECOME

KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: 1 John 4:17(TPT)
By living in God, love has been brought to its full expression in us so that we may fearlessly face the day of judgment, because all that Jesus now is, so are we in this world.
One remarkable characteristic of our identity in Christ is the fact that God actually sees you this way.
That is, you are actually more righteous in God’s sight than you are in yours. In fact, He says you are His righteousness. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
God sees you through the lens of Christ, through the sacrifice that qualifies you to not only be accepted in the beloved (Ephesians 1:6) but be just as He is, right here, right now. (1 John 4:17)
So you are not pretending when you say you are righteous or live as righteous.
This is what backs our confidence to become.
In the Mind of Christ series, recall that the teaching was anchored on three cardinal elements; Identity, Transformation and Expression in specific order.
So, it’s not enough to know who you are but it is also important to become who you are. For us, living from the understanding of our identity is what triggers our becoming. Not living out your identity is just like squatting with a friend while knowing that you are the son or daughter of a wealthy man with extensive real estate investments.
And it’s so amazing that this becoming process is not born out of self-effort. (2 Corinthians 3:4,5)
In His wisdom, God made a provision for our transformation by giving us His Holy Spirit who is at work in us to release and express our true nature- the new man in Christ that we have become.
(John 16:13)
Philippians 2:13(The Living Bible Version) says;
‘For God is at work within you, helping you want to obey Him, and then helping you do what He wants.’
The work of the Holy Spirit is an inside-out process, engineering our minds to produce from the new OS (operating system) that the new man in Christ has been fashioned with.
The transformation we speak of, is that transition from the functioning with the old OS to functioning with a new OS.
And He doesn’t work alone. He engineers the renewing of our minds by the truth of the gospel we receive. Romans 12:2(NLT) instructs us to allow God transform us into a new person by changing the way we think.
God’s word is alive, active and powerful in addressing and aligning our minds to become the picture of our identity. Hebrews 4:12 calls it a double edged sword.
What point does this bring home? That there’s no way we cannot be transformed except we choose not to yield or rely on the person of the Holy Spirit and the word of Christ.
Think about it. What areas of your life would you like to see evident becoming?
Look no further. Your transformation is not far-fetched.
You only need to behold the picture of your identity in Christ. Keep beholding who you have become in Christ and you will become.
