DON’T LOVE FROM SELF

KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: 1 Corinthians 13:3(NKJV)
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
If you are trying to do something for your glory or satisfaction, i.e, you want to be praised for it, that’s not love.
Every time I want to preach, I say to myself- “Lord, less of me, more of you.”
A.L.W.A.Y.S!
There is never a time where I feel I am absolutely ready in my capacity.
In fact, there are many times where a sermon is already prepared and just before the time to share, it gets changed.
But you see, I’m more sensitive about what you need to hear than what I’ve prepared.
I don’t care if I come to fool myself or look a certain way but somebody needs to be blessed.
So love is more than just the words or the actions, it’s what drives it!
The heart, the motive, the sincerity.
And let me tell you, if you do all of these things, your love will be tested.
Here’s a question for you- How can you pray for God to increase your capacity to love and you expect Him to put lovely people around you?
Does it add up? Of course not.
Listen, God is going to send you people who will step on your toes and that’s your test.
Pass it!
Child of God, don’t love from self. It’s not about how it makes you look but that God is ultimately praised.
So allow the love of God in its fulness be expressed through you.
REFLECTION
Do I love from self or from a desire to allow the love of God be dispensed?
DECLARATION
-I believe in the good news of the gospel. That in the giving of Jesus, I am now a beneficiary of God’s grace.
-The gospel is the grace of God. I am thankful for the grace of God.
-I have come into a progressive revelation of all that the grace of God reveals.
-The cross is the proof of God’s love for me.
-I am secure in my identity as a believer so my love is not a function of others. I love because of who I am.
-I find it easy to love. Anyone who comes into my space is touched by and receives the same love of God I have received not hurt or hate.
-Love is my identity so I express it. I refuse to reduce my identity to nothing.
-My love is more than words or action, it is sincere and from the heart.
-I don’t love from self. It is never about glory or satisfaction for me rather it is the love of God shining through.
-As God increases my capacity to love through the people and circumstances He brings my way, I pass the test.
-My love abounds more and more.
