KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: Romans 5:8(NKJV)
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

“…while we were yet sinners, God demonstrated His love towards us.”
Oh how I love that scripture.
Look, that’s the demonstration of love!
The highest demonstration of love! And guess what, it was not merited, we were sinners!
You see, what this means is that your understanding and expression of love should be at the core of your faith in Christ.
Because if you don’t express love, then it means your understanding of what God did for you is questionable.

Remember we said everything Jesus demonstrated on the cross is to show that we can express it too.
So God demonstrates love so you can also demonstrate love.
Luke 12:48 tells us that to whom much is given, much is expected.
How can I know you have received love if you can’t show love to your neighbour or brother?
There are somethings that are non-negotiable. You don’t even think twice about them.

Look at 1 John 3:14 carefully. It says- I know that you are born-again, I know that you are in Christ Jesus, I know that you are saved not because you speak in tongues or roll on the floor in worship or look and dress the part of a Christian, not because of any of that.
No, I know that you are a Christian because you love.

Let me tell you something, the Holy Spirit is proof of the fact that you are saved because scripture tells us we have been sealed unto the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30) which means that the Holy Spirit on you is the seal of God which demarcates you from others.
So Jesus, who is our head, needs to see the Holy Spirit but your brother or sister don’t need to. They need to see love.
If you say to me you are a Christian, show me love not just the display of the spirituals.

Friends, we know that we are born-again because we love.
So prove your identity as a believer and love.

REFLECTION
Does my love for others reflect an understanding of the love God demonstrated to me on the cross?
