TSP DAILY DEVOTIONAL
GIVE IN TO REFINING
30th July 2020
Dr. Phil Ransom-Bello
KEY SCRIPTURE/MEMORY VERSE: 1 Peter 1:6-7(NKJV)
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
You need to know that the believer’s disposition to trial is influenced by what the believer has kept in view. In other words, when the believer has kept Christ in view who is the object of faith, his or faith does better under the pressure of trials.
That for example, when you experience financial hardships, it won’t shake your faith. It would simply be an opportunity for your faith to show its true colours.
And when you think of the fact that some people are going through worse trials, where their lives literally hang in the balance because of their faith, their confession of Christ, you will not be moved by what you are going through. It will be like a minor test when you learn of people around the world going through deeper tests because of their confession of Christ, which they are eventually killed for.
What then is the difference between you and them?
It’s the profession. They continued professing their faith in Christ.
So we need to check what the faith we say we have, really is.
Listen, your faith will do better under pressure when you are abused, spited, raped, when you go through down times and it seems like God is not answering your prayers or when it seems like you are not doing the right things but you are actually doing the right things, only that the wrong things are happening, etc.
In those testing periods, your faith will do much better.
Looking at our text, if I ask you if you have been grieved by various trials, I’m sure you’ve probably been through your fair share. Times where one ends and another starts, but the scripture tells us that just as gold is being refined by fire, so is your faith being refined by these trials.
This means that trials will test your faith and it will shine better.
Friends, allow your faith be refined and shine better.
Let your response to the stimuli of trials be that you keep the profession of your faith.
REFLECTION
Do I keep my profession of faith under pressure or do I avoid the refining process?
DECLARATION
-I believe in the good news of the gospel, that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus has announced the provision of forgiveness of my sins.
-I don’t just know the gospel, I live the gospel. I am transformed by the gospel. The gospel is working through me.
-The hearing of the gospel produces the fruits of Genuine Faith, Love for all the Saints and Hope of a Guaranteed Future in me.
-The fruits of the gospel are not a product of my ability but are generated supernaturally.
-The fruit of the gospel produces in me an endurance in trials.
-Because my faith keeps in view the object of faith, which is Christ, it does better under pressure.
-My faith is genuine and it passes the true colour test.
-I keep the profession of faith despite the trials I experience.
-I yield to the refining that trials bring and my faith shines better.
-I have the right disposition to trials.
